Jim has been making "Wicked" progress!

All,

It has been a while since I posted to this blog.  This summer so far- Jim has finished the area under the first floor, the first floor, the back wall and is starting to put up the second floor beams.  Wicked hard work!  He is ready to go back to his day job to get a rest from the physical and mental demand of building.

Take a look at where we are!

Spring is coming...(I think)

We have been doing a bit of interior decorating in our tent- been warm and snug all winter.  Expect to see some really cool pics of the interior of the tent in a week or so...

We did a bit on our house roof- preparing it for the metal roof which we expect to put up as soon as spring is sprung.

Jim started a job so I expect him to be pretty tired out from working part-time and building the house so we will see how we progress.  I am comfortable now with our living space so he can take his time:)

A roof?

It has been a while since I put up a post.  Jim has been working hard but it has been slow going.  We are coming up to the end of the "outside" building season and will be racing against the onset of winter.  During our recent three days of summer in Juneau, Jim made a big leap of progress.  Foundation complete and he started on the roof rafters.

Jim added some of his reasoning for this amazing foundation right on the building so the building inspector could just read it off the wall- funny guy!

Uncle Larry came in for one day, bought us lunch, looked around and booked:)

Jim and Burt- hamming it up on the "first" day of summer we had.   I wouldn't work up there...

That's my own personal contractor hamming it up again- as Leili would say- Jimmy the Frank!

So- say your prayers for the delay of the snow- we are racing winter now!  Stand by for a completed roof by the end of September!  Jim promised!

Even in the rain, the wild man continues to build my house

So the rain has come back and Jim and his trusty helper Burt continued to "tie steel" and prepare the land for the first cement pour.  Jim has been saying, "I'm sore, I'm cold".  Still on they go.

I am sorry not to be able to provide pictures of the inside of the tent, however, it is a mess and those of you who know me know how messy I can be.  Maybe next time the inside of the tent will be presentable.

For now, enjoy the pics of the foundation ready for the first gulp of cement...

Building a solid foundation

All,

It has been a while since we updated this blog.  Projects always take longer than expected.  The tent is fairly complete at this point and comfortable.  Next blog- I will show the inside of the tent.  For now- here are few pictures of our progress.  Things you can't see in the pictures is that we got approval to bring electricity to the property and the water and sewer lines have been installed, approved by CBJ, and covered back up.

Temporary housing rises slowly- promises to be comfortable

The rain has been a rather intermittent visitor.  Land is becoming more like a giant mud pie.  All kinds of hurdles arise each day stretching out our occupancy date further into the future.  $300 dollars here, another $700 there, whew, how fast it flows out of our hands and how slow the progress for that outlay.  At least the progress on the tent is good.
